GTA LSPDFR Addon Car Install Tutorial

Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to install an LSPDFR addon car in GTA V:

Requirements:
  • GTA V installed on your PC
  • LSPDFR mod installed
  • Addon car files (usually in .rar, .zip or folder format)
  • OpenIV software
  • CodeWalker (optional, for exploring game files)
  • A backup of your game files (recommended)

Step-by-step Installation Guide:

1. Backup Your Files

Before making any changes, back up your update.rpf and x64 folders located in your GTA V directory, in case you want to revert.

2. Extract Addon Car Files

Extract the car files you downloaded using WinRAR or 7-Zip. Typically, you'll find .ytd, .yft, .meta, and sometimes .wdr files.

3. Open OpenIV

  • Launch OpenIV and set it to edit mode.
  • Navigate to:
  • update\update.rpf\common\data\ for handling meta files
  • or update\update.rpf\dlcpack\ if the addon uses a DLC pack

4. Replace or Add Car Files

  • If you are replacing an existing vehicle, locate the existing .yft and .ytd files and replace them with your new files.
  • To add a new car:
  1. Create a new folder inside dlcpack or a custom folder
  2. Import the .yft, .ytd, and .meta files into that folder
  3. Ensure the folder has the correct structure with necessary files

5. Update DLC or Content Metadata

  • For new vehicles, you often need to create or modify dlc.rpf entries:
  • Use OpenIV’s Edit mode to create a new DLC pack or modify existing ones
Add the car model files into the dlc folder
Update meta files to include your new vehicle

6. Edit Vehicle Handling (Optional)

If needed, adjust handling via the handling.meta. Use a text editor and add or modify entries for your vehicle.

7. Create or Edit Vehicle Data (Handling & Spawn)

Vehicle spawn codes and meta data should be added or modified in vehicles.meta, carvariations.meta, and carcols.meta.

8. Importing Files
  • Save all your modifications, then close OpenIV.
  • Launch the game.

9. Spawn Your Vehicle in Game

  • Use the vehicle spawn command, or a trainer, to spawn your new addon car:
  • Find the model name, usually from the .meta files.
  • Enter the command or use a trainer like Simple Trainer or Menyoo to spawn the vehicle.

Additional Tips:
  • Use scripts or trainers to spawn custom cars easily.
  • Verify car integrity by checking if the model shows correctly in-game.
  • If you encounter issues, double-check file paths and meta configurations.

Note:

Addon cars often require some familiarity with GTA V modding. Always backup files and carefully follow each step.
