Mechanic Services in GTA Online
• Requesting Vehicles: You can call the "Mechanic" from your phone contacts to deliver any owned vehicle from your garages to your current location.
• Delivery Locations: If you are on a dirt road, the mechanic will usually drop the vehicle off on the nearest main road.
• Limitations: The mechanic will not deliver vehicles during certain jobs, such as Survivals or Heists, and may become "otherwise occupied".
• Payment & Fees: The mechanic charges a daily fee of roughly $50 in-game (about 48 minutes in real life). If this fee is not paid, the mechanic will stop working.
• Repairing Vehicles: While the mechanic delivers, they do not repair vehicles on the spot. To repair, you must drive the car into your garage (if you have at least $1,000) or take it to Los Santos Customs.
Alternative Roadside Assistance & Repairs
• Auto Shop Business: Players can own an Auto Shop, which provides specialized services including customizing and delivering NPC vehicles for profit.
• Free Repair Glitch: Driving a damaged vehicle into a car wash and immediately exiting the menu can sometimes repair the car for free.
• New Session: Switching to a new online session can sometimes fix a broken car.
• Roleplay (RP) Servers: In dedicated RP servers, player-controlled mechanics can be called to repair or tow vehicles, acting as a direct roadside assistance service.
Story Mode
- In single-player Story Mode, the mechanic contact is generally unavailable, and vehicles must be repaired at standard mechanic shops (Los Santos Customs).
